As a conscious designer who holds environmental needs in high regard, I firmly believe that not enough attention is being paid to awareness campaigns. My interest is to use design as a vehicle for change to aid in the promotion of environmental programs and awareness campaigns. I need to solve the problem with the strategic thinking behind awareness campaigns, and evolve the strategic development to entirely solve the problem or initiate a cultural change. I find that through innovative thinking and unique approaches, design can be used to solve the issue entirely. As a platform to test the strategy, I will create an awareness campaign to solve the issue of the honey bee decline.
The way awareness campaigns are designed are ineffective in solving a problem, once awareness has been recognized through a campaign, the communication strategy stops there. As a pre convinced ideology, campaigns ask for peoples time and money (donations) Thus getting the audience to be more involved in the problem becomes difficult.
The problem lies within the lack of consideration towards the strategic implementation to the users experience to the problem, if a campaign can be designed to cater for the target audiences individual experience, then the audience may be nudged and willing to participate. As a platform to test the strategic development, the research will allow for the opportunity to create an awareness campaign, to solve the issue of the honey bee decline.
This project will provide the opportunity to actively design for an experience to create connection. By moulding experiences through nudging the target audience, there are extraordinary opportunity to create a better interactivity and initiate a clearer message. Ultimately the solution should solve the problem, create awareness and leave a longer impression that is memorable.
By accommodating for the lifestyle choices of the target audiences. This project will explore all the problems that honeybees face and create a solution by nudging people into creating bee friendly environments. The solution will not only bene t the endangered species but will also benefit the target audience
